Robert Lee Rice, of Eutaw, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on March 20, 1938, Robert lived a life marked by hard work, devotion, and love for his family.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Rice, Sr., and Mamie Rice; his brothers, Johnny, David, LV, Vert, Revell, Roosevelt, Clarence, Jr., Horace, Josevelt; his sisters, Adel Spencer and Annie B. Wilson; and his son, Christopher Rice.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara A. Rice; his children, Kimberly Rice and Korry Rice; his grandchildren, Amber (Robert) Reid, Sierra Waver, Christian Waver, Cameron Waver, Khristopher Rice, and Khaleb Rice; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his loving family, Robert leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who brought him much joy. He shared a special bond with his nephews and nieces: Freeman Ward, Marko Rice, Terry Malone, Myron Epps, Tonya Ross, and Terri Veal; a host of cousins; extended family; and many loving friends who will deeply miss his presence and his gentle spirit.
He was a dedicated employee of General Motors for 35 years, known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Outside of work, Robert cherished the role of being a husband, father, and grandfather. He was a kind soul, giving, patient, and full of love for others. Robert loved the Lord and was a member of Bold Believers Church of Christ.
The viewing will be held on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Residence Park Church of Christ, 4328 Hoover Ave., Dayton, OH. Family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and the service will begin at 11:30 a.m.
Robert’s life will be celebrated by all who were fortunate to know him. His kindness, patience, and unwavering love for family will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Joe Peters (also known as BJ) and his former daughter-in-law, Marquita Rice, for the countless ways they offered love, care, and support to Robert throughout his life and final days. They are also deeply thankful for Dr. Cleavon Matthews, Sr., the brothers and sisters of Bold Believers Church of Christ, and Residence Park Church of Christ, whose compassion, prayers, and encouragement provided comfort to the family during this difficult time.
