Roosevelt Billingsley Obituary

Roosevelt Billingsley was born June 11, 1946 in Wedowee, Alabama and departed this life Sunday, February 11, 2024 unexpectedly.  Roosevelt gave his life to the Lord at a young age and recently rededicated his life to the Lord and became a member of The Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church. Roosevelt retired from McCall Printing Company and formerly worked for Kelly’s Home Cleaning Service. After which he became a self-employed landscaper. Roosevelt, having some physical health challenges, never allowed it to stop him from doing anything that he wanted to do in this life. His smile would light up any room that he entered and he had the best gut laugh that would make you laugh. If he could help you, he would and sometimes that brought some disappointments but, it didn’t stop him from helping if he could.

Roosevelt was preceded in death by his parents Jesse and Minnie Billingsley, former wife Gloria Billingsley, Sisters Mamie Billingsley, Annie Lois Marsh and brothers Jimmy and Oscar Billingsley, step son Rontae Driscoll and his niece Danielle Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter Seliena Roe. His late wife’s children Tamika Jackson and Dontae Driscoll. His sister’s, AKA “The Grand Ladies” Eva Ector and Jessie Billingsley. Brother Willie (Deborah) Billingsley, brother and sister in law Willie and Donna Driscoll. Special nephew David Billingsley who took care of Roosevelt daily. He has 18 grandchildren Morgan, Tonio, Jennine, Mark, Monique, Monae, Jimmy (JD), Jaymiar, Jaiven, Adria, Aria, Aminah, Shadonyea, Dontae, Jazza, Miracle, Phoenix, Rashae and 15 great grandchildren and special friend Earl Freeman. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Roosevelt led a life that we were not aware of. He became a disciple for Christ at Enon Plaza. Everyone there has said that Roosevelt was the sweetest person, kind and always smiling. He helped to lead some of the residents to Christ and developed memorable relationships with the residents and staff. The relationship that he developed with his great nephew David was an Uncle/Dad relationship. They both are cut from the same cloth. They both have the biggest hearts of anyone that we know. Roosevelt will be sorely missed by all that he touched.
