Rosa Hicks Obituary

Rosa Linda Hicks, age 66, was born in Dayton, Ohio to Deacon Nathaniel Hicks, Sr. and Mrs. Dorothy I. Hicks on January 27, 1954. Rosa went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 24, 2021 at the Maria-Joseph Nursing Home Facility surrounded by the caring staff members of this home.

Rosa was baptized at an early age at the Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church, and she loved to sing “Yes Jesus Loves Me”.  Most of all, she loved the Lord, and she loved coming to church, and she loved everyone.  Rosa had a wonderful way of expressing God’s love that she had for Him.  Rosa also attended the Bible Training Union (BTU) and she would make anyone love her just from her beautiful smile.

Rosa became a resident at the First Mental Disability Group Home in 1986 under the ownership of Mrs. Janice Rucker.  Rosa participated in work activities at the Unity Group Home, and she was extremely proud of her daily work accomplishments.  Rosa also received the JAYCEE Citizen of the Year Award for her outstanding community involvement.

Rosa was preceded in death by her father, Nathaniel Hicks Sr., and her sister Marcia Kay Hicks Cooper.  She leaves to cherish her mother Dorothy I. Hicks of Dayton, Ohio, her brother, Nathaniel (Marian) Hicks Jr., of Kansas City, Missouri, and her sister  Wandlyn D. Hicks-Handy of Dayton, Ohio; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and friends.  In addition, Rosie’s special friend Rita Lamb and other residents who resided with Rosie in the Group Home.
