Rosalee (Bootsie) Burdette Foster, 81, walked into the arms of her Lord and Savior on the morning of Thursday, September 19, 2024. She was born August 4, 1943 in Gurley, AL. At the age of two, she moved to Dayton, OH with her parents George and Ezell Hammonds. She graduated from Roosevelt High School class of 1961. Rosalee retired from Hewitt Soap Company after 34 years of service. She is a charter member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church where she served in several ministries which included being a Deaconess, served as an usher, in the church pantry and on the culinary committee. She was a choir director and lead singer with the music ministry at her home church. Rosalee also served beyond the walls of her church by participating in several community events and workshops. She was a member of the GMWA Dayton Chapter Choir, the annual MLK choir, the Dayton Baptist Pastors and Ministers Union Citywide Choir, the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company “In the Spirit of…” choir and volunteered with the Littlejohn Brothers annual youth workshop. She was also a member of the Shining Stars retirement club. Her hobbies included bowling, fishing and being the "ultimate fashionista" with her designer clothes and shoes.
Rosalee was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ezell Hammonds. Her first Husband and father of her two daughters, Arthur Burdette. Her second husband, Gilbert Foster and bonus daughter, Ann Margarette Foster.
Rosalee is survived by her two girls: Marvis and Traci Burdette, both of Dayton. Two God-Daughters: Tonda Thomas-Bates (Jason) and Tierra Thomas-Redmon (William). Two adopted daughters: Terri (Randall) Littlejohn and Kimberly Harris all of Dayton, OH. Two bonus daughters: Jennifer Foster Thompson and Monnie Loveless, both from Lafayette, GA. Two bonus sons: Forrest Foster of Piqua, OH and Thomas Foster Wheeler (Erika) Sidney, OH. Three brothers: Jesse (Latasha) Hammonds (Los Angeles, CA); Anthony Hammonds and Myron Graves both from Dayton, OH. Grandchildren Priscilla Burdette (Bronx, NY), Treasure and Tyree Shaw (Dayton, OH); Jace Edwards (Ft. Oglethorpe, GA); Jocelyn (Jason) Maher (Lafayette, GA); Aubrianna Foster (Ft. Oglethorpe, GA); Adrian and Aaron Foster both from Piqua, OH. Amanda and Amber Loveless both from Lafayette, GA; Lauren (Erick) Benge (Lima, OH); Jenna (Kolby) White (Ft. Oglethorpe, GA); Jersain Brux, Isaiah Brux, Jy'Heir Foster Wheeler, Malachi Foster Wheeler and Patricia Foster Wheeler all of Sidney, OH. God-Grandchildren: Jason Jr., Jamison, Jayden and Tyson Bates, Yasmine and Yamiyah Craver; Tiray Jamison, De'Ahna and Ri'Lynne Redmon all of Dayton, OH. Three great grandsons whom she spoiled rotten: Yousef Abuqedama, Jr.; Tyree Shaw, Jr. and Taliu Asei, Jr. She was also blessed with 29 other great grandchildren who blessed her life over the years. Her best friend/sister of over 60 years, Jean (John) Jordan. Rosalee is also survived by a host of many cousins, other family members and friends.
