Rosetta Green Obituary

Rosetta Harris Green, age 91, was born into this life on Monday, March 23, 1931 to the late William Harris and Savannah Mae Barton Harris. Roe transitioned into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at Hospice of Dayton, after a brief illness.

Roe graduated from Richmond Senior High School in 1948. Eventually, she moved to Dayton, where most of her family lived.

She accepted Jesus Christ and became a member of People’s Community CME Church and in 1992 became a devoted member of The Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

Miss Rosetta, as she was affectionately called, and her husband, Dimps were the proud owners of “The North Broadway Carry Out.” As proprietors of their community store, they were a shining light to the area, compassionately caring for their customers. She made sure that the children buying penny candy were shown the same respect as the adults. In the blizzard of 1978, Miss Rosetta’s was the only store open for business.

Roe loved to fish and hunt. She often spoke about going fishing.

Sis. Green was devoted to her church and because of her love for the Lord and His children, she served in many ministries.

Mama Green encouraged many young women as confidant, friend, and as someone to talk to for guidance. She will be missed.

Rosetta was preceded in death by her parents and her only sibling, sister, Barbara Jean Harris. Roe, Aunt Rose, will always be in the hearts of her niece, Linda, Nadirah Um Rani, great nephew/son, who she raised, Kevin Harris and his wife April. Her devoted special great-great nephew, Aharron Harris, and devoted great-great niece, Aerionna Harris. Also her great-great nephews, Antonio, his wife Maeisha McDougal, Admontae McDougal and Azariah Stewart.

Roe leaves many cousins, Ona Wilena Goff, age 96, is the oldest. They will fondly cherish memories and stories of her. Of course, her Greater St. John family will keep her in our memories.
