Ruby L. Robinson

Ruby Robinson Obituary

Sister Ruby Robinson departed this earthly life on Thursday, March 11, 2021. She was born August 6, 1928 in Winston, Georgia to Joe M. Holloman and Grace Henry Holloman.

Sis. Robinson accepted Christ at eight years of age. She was baptized at Winston Baptist Church in Winston, Georgia, by Rev. G.W. Jordon, Pastor. She attended Sunday School and other church activities regularly with her active Christian parents. She began teaching Sunday School at the age of 15.

Sis. Robinson moved to Dayton, Ohio in 1948. She married the late Dewitt Roberts Jr.  They were the parents of six children, four of whom are deceased. She joined Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church in 1950. She held several positions at Mt. Enon: Altar Guild Circle, teacher of Women’s Bible class, director of summer reading and math program, junior high vacation Bible school teacher, president of the Mother’s Council, president of the Ministers, Deacons and Trustees Wives, Bible teacher at the Englewood Manor Nursing Home and leader of the Evangelistic Team, which was her passion. Rev. John F. Cunningham appointed her Sunday School Superintendent at Mt. Enon, where she served in that capacity for 20 years.

In 1973 Sis. Robinson graduated from Central State University, Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. That same year she married Robert A. Robinson, now deceased.

In 1989 Sis. Robinson received a Master of Science degree with honors from Wright State University. She was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society the same year. She was employed in the Dayton Public School System, teaching 5th and 6th grades at Valerie School for 20 years.

She has completed 32 instructors’ courses in Christian Education from the Sunday School Publishing Board National Baptist Convention USA Inc. Sis Robinson was a member of the prayer band, Mother’s Council, regularly attended Sunday School and participated with the jail ministry.

She is preceded in death by children: William Roberts, Brenda Bailey, Marcia Edwards, Gwendolyn Roberts; grandson Marvin Bailey Jr.; brothers: Joe Holloman, James Holloman and Carl Holloman.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Carol Roberts-Williams and Patricia A. Martin; sister Clara Hill; grandchildren: Tracy Roberts, Terri (Richard) Dobbins, Alfred (Allison) Martin II, Alex (Monique) Martin, Victor (Sasceya) Byrd, Michael Edwards; great-grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, church family and friends.

Sis. Robinson stated that she would continue to tell others about Jesus until the Lord called her home.
