Runette F. Ray Obituary

Runette F Ray was born on September 2, 1938, in Social Circle, GA to Leonard and Annette Fisher. She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, Class of 1957. She retired from the Defense Electronic Supply Corporation (DESC), after 40 years of service. After retiring from DESC, Runette held a number of various part-time positions for several years to keep herself busy. Runette was well known as a fantastic cook by her family and friends. She owned no less than a combination of 100’s of cookbooks, three-ring binders packed with recipes thorn from magazines/newspapers and handwritten recipes.  She was also an accomplished seamstress and an avid gardener. These skills and interests were passed down to her five daughters and son.

Runette was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard Sr. and Annette Fisher and her brother, Leonard Fisher Jr. (Butch), her sister, Carol Fisher Durham, her daughters, Deborah A. Graves and Tonya Y. Ray, and her son David K. Ray. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie (Stevie) L. Ray, Dayton, Karen M. Wilkerson (Andrew) Cedar Hill, TX and Sonya D. Ray, Grand Prairie, TX, her sister, Nancy White; niece, LaRahn M. Wilkinson; both of Dayton and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Runette lived a long and fulfilling life and was a devoted caregiver to her parents and children.  As the onset of Dementia became apparent, Runette was relocated to Texas where her daughters could oversee her maximum care needs. Runette, lovingly known as “Runit” accepted our Lord Jesus Christ when she was a young girl. We praise God that she is in the presence of our Lord and Savior. She is now and forever will be missed by all those who dearly loved her.

Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.

John 14:1-5
