Ruthie M. Oglesby

“A precious one from us has gone.

A voice we loved is stilled,

A place is vacant in our home

That never can be filled”

Loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt, neighbor and friend, Mrs. Ruthie Mae Oglesby, earned her wings and returned home Tuesday morning, February 18, 2020.

After moving from Gaffney SC, Ruthie enjoyed raising her children, being a homemaker, and attending church, she also enjoyed her travel to downtown Dayton where she would walk for hour’s window shopping and snacking on candy.  She loved tending to her yard and took pride in her flowers and grass. She loved and cherished cooking and baking.  When you came to her house she always offered you a meal or to “have something”.

She was born on September 5, 1921 in Gaffney South Carolina to the late Edgar and Lindy Posey. Ruthie was preceded in death by her husband Loyel, five sons William, Edgar, Robert, Johnny, and Thomas; also her four brothers Swan, James, Earl, and Robert; 2 sisters Jean and Creola.

Ruthie has left to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, two daughters Ozell Oglesby and Wynema Cannon; two sisters Hazel Gaffney and Bakita Smith; eighteen grandchildren, Marsha, William(Shalada), Kenneth (Delores), Rhonda, Richard(Michelle), Kayel, Eric(Tan), Terry, Todd(Kim), Yolanda, Pacina, Tovah, Shaun, Yvonne(Jeffrey), Tawanna, Donte, Ashley, Ashton; thirty-two great-grandchildren, and twenty great-great-grandchildren, and family and friends.
