Shawn Allen Coatney, 50, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025. Shawn was born on June 10, 1974, in Dayton, Ohio. He was born to the late Dennis Coatney, Sr., and Elte Coatney.

He was a member of Harvest Light Family Ministry located Dayton, Ohio. Shawn was the family "BBQ Master". He enjoyed playing cards, spending time with family and most importantly spending time with his two sons. They were his pride and joy. His laughter could be recognized and heard anywhere.

He was proceeded in death by his parents and two brothers Finley Mitchell and Bryant "Doobie" Coatney.

In his passing he is survived by his two sons, Jaden Coatney, of Huber Heights, Ohio and Javon Coatney (Morgan), of Nashville, TN; his step-mother, Thelma Parks of Dayton, OH; two brothers: Dennis (Robin) Coatney. Ir. and Adrian Parks, both of Dayton, OH; three sisters: Vanessa (Floyd) Ballew of Richmond, KY, Cindy (Tony) Coatney and Mica Parks both of Dayton, OH; and a host of nephews, nieces and a special friend, Tara Dugger.
