Shirley Ann Davis, fell asleep in death on October 20, 2024, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 85. Born on November 12, 1938 to William Johnson and Margaret Ross, Shirley overcame obstacles and thrived to uphold her values, strengths, morals, charm, strong will and a sense of humor that got her the endearment from her grandchildren as the queen of comedy.

Shirley worked and retired as a paraprofessional with the Dayton Public School system for 35 years. A career she enjoyed as she helped manage and provide assistance to the many students she adored. After retirement, Shirley remained active with various crafts. One being crocheting, where she had a knack and made her own clothes and quilts for her grandchildren.

Shirley had four children with former husband John W. Davis Sr., two of their children proceeded her in death, John W. Davis Jr. (survived by daughter-in-law, Julia Jackson) and Annette Vance (survived by son-in-law, Gregory Vance Sr.) She was also proceeded in death by her brother William “Sonny” Johnson, sister Pearl E. Ross “Liz”.  Shirley leaves behind her surviving sons, Glenn Davis and Gary Davis (Stephanie). Grandchildren, Jackie Renee Williams, Gwendolyn Ann Vance, Gregory Vance II, Brandon Michael Vance. Great grandchildren, Laniya J'Renee Hill, Omari Michael Vance, Aliyah Renae Vance. Nieces and nephews, Kathy L. Ross, Belinda Jackson, Jerry C.K. Ross Jr., Dr. India Caldwell-Cox and a host of family members too many to name.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Julia Jackson for her donation and contribution on behalf of Shirley Davis. Shirley will be placed next to her son that she dearly missed.

Special thank you to son-in-law Gregory Vance Sr. for stepping up to care for Shirley's needs, especially following the untimely passing of her daughter Annette.
