Virginia Wanamaker Obituary

Virginia Mae Wanamaker “G-Mama” age 92, was born on June 3, 1929 in Greenville South Carolina to Arthur and Ethel O. Taylor. She was the eldest of 10 siblings. She attended Friendship High School in South Carolina. At the age of 26 on August 20, 1955 she gave birth to her only son Gregory William Taylor Sr. Later in life she met and married George Wanamaker (Baseball Player). She worked for Mrs. Brenner for 25 years or more doing domestic work. For 20 years she worked for Dr. Riechert Orthodontist in Kettering Ohio.

On July 9, 2021 G-Mama accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior.

Virginia was a loving G-Mama, mother, sister, aunt, and friend; a people person, outspoken, loved to chat it up, caring and very generous she loved to cook, and party, and her laugh was infectious, it always sounded like she was having such a great time! She had so much class, spunk, style, sass, and character which made her the life of any party or gathering. She truly will be missed by all she came in the presence of in her 92 years.

She was preceded in death by her infant daughter Diane, her parents Arthur and Ethel O. Taylor; (4 brothers) Jim, Ralph, Reichert Willie Taylor (3 sisters) Mable (Sumpter), Barbra Ann (William) Pollard, Pauline (Bobby) Dawkins; and many of nieces, nephews, cousins, family friends.

Virginia leaves to cherish very fond memories and celebrate her life here on Earth while we had her: loving and devoted son Gregory William Taylor Sr.(Romie); granddaughters: (4) Airycka N. Estremera (Luis); Lakisha A. Taylor; Jessica Y. Taylor; grandson Gregory William Jr.; great-granddaughters:(4) Essence J. Estremera; MaKayla M. Frost; Lyris A. Estremera; Nyi’Lah K. Estremera; great-grandsons:(3) Mike’on K. Frost; Ro’Mye M. Estremera; Nehemiah A. Estremera; and a host of devoted, loving nieces and nephews, cousins and family friends. Sending special love and comfort to her little sister and roomy Elizabeth Dunham Rice, and loving brother Jerold Taylor of Cowpens, South Carolina.
